| FOUNDED:
Incorporated April 13, 1925. ORIGIN OF BOROUGH:
The town was originally founded with the name Hoboken in
the late 1700s. Postal regulations later required a name
change because Hoboken, New Jersey had a prior claim to
the name.
The Blaw Steel Co. acquired the Knox
Welded and Pressed Steel Co. in 1917. The company became
known as the Blaw-Knox Steel Construction Co. The size
of the borough was expanded to cover the whole area spanned
by the Blaw-Knox mill. The management
asked the people of the town to change the name to Blawnox,
and they did, becoming the present-day Blawnox.
