Borough Council has been closely monitoring the ever-changing property assessment saga in Allegheny County. Of note, Blawnox Borough’s tax millage of 9.74 was set in 2005 and was not increased for 8 years. In January 2013, the Borough received notification of the certified property values for the Borough from the Allegheny County Office of Property Assessments. As a whole, the overall Borough certified property value increased which allowed Borough Council to REDUCE the 2013 millage from 9.74 mills to 8.895 mills.

Now you ask, what does this mean to me?

Blawnox Median Property Value as of 1/25/2013: $87,650

Blawnox Real Estate Taxes in 2012 (@ 9.74 mills) $853.71

Blawnox Real Estate Taxes in 2013 (@ 8.895 mills) $779.65

As shown above, a property in Blawnox valued at $87,650 will pay $74.06 LESS in Borough Real Estate Taxes in 2013.
