Code Enforcement

The job of the Code Enforcement Officer (CEO) is to create and maintain a safe and clean environment for everyone who lives, works, and visit the Borough of Blawnox through enforcement of the 2015 International Property Maintenance Code as well as local ordinances. The Code Enforcement Officer patrols the borough whenever on duty and responds to complaints and concerns that have been shared with the borough office by residents, businesses and property owners. 

The Code Enforcement Officer has two different methods of handling violations in Blawnox Borough. The Borough follows the standard Code Enforcement Process that is outlined in the 2015 International Property Maintenance Code which consists of a courtesy letter, for first time violations, a notice of violation, and a non-traffic citation if the violation in not addressed in a set amount of time. In addition the borough passed a Quality of Life Ordinance, in July of 2019, which establishes a ticket process for certain property maintenance violations. The purpose of this ordinance was to shorten the time it takes for the Code Enforcement Officer to handle time sensitive violations. Any property maintenance related complaints should be reported to Blawnox Borough by calling 412-828-4141. Please try to include as much detail as possible when reporting a violation including the address where the violation exists, the condition prompting your report, and anything else you feel is relevant. Complaints may also be emailed to the borough administrative staff at blxoffice@blawnox.net or directly to the Code Enforcement Officer at lwright@blawnox.net. If you wish to submit complaints in person you may do so at the Blawnox Borough Office at 376 Freeport Road, Blawnox, PA 15238.
